Udupi: BJP Mahila morcha holds programme on importance of girl child

Udupi, Oct 7: Udupi district women's morcha held a programme to emphasise the importance of girl child,  to parents of the children. The programme was held in labour colony, Alevooru Pragathi town.

The pooja for spinsters, during the Navaratri festival was unique. 25 young girls in Pragathinagara were presented flowers, sweets and  clothes after applying a bit of Vermilion on their forehead, under the leadership of District Mahila morcha president, Nayana Ganesh.

Zilla panchayat vice president explained about 'Kanya Pooje' to the parents and said that the programme is held to prevent female foeticide.













Alevooru grama panchayat president Srikanth Nayak, Reshma Udaya Kumar Shetty, Mahila morcha secretary Veena Shetty, Rashmitha Balakrishna, municipal council member Sumithra Nayak, taluk panchayat member Baby, grama panchayat member Pushpalatha, Shanta Nayak, Prema Rama Shetty, Ashok Bhandary, Leela Suvarna and others were present.
