Mangaluru: Gang of six held when plotting for robbery

Mangaluru, Oct 8: Kavoor polce took into custody a gang of six who had gathered near Marakada bus stand near Kavoor here and were planning to execute a robbery plan. The arrest was made at around 12.15 am on Friday October 7.

The arrested men are Gautham (26), Kaushik (22), Preetham (22), Rithesh (19), and Vishal Das (31), all from Akash Bhavan in the city, and Vishal Kumar (22), who hails from Kunjathbail. Sachets of chilly powder and two knives were found from their possession.

Kavoor police sub-inspector, Umesh Kumar, raided a spot near Marakada bus stand along with some other police personnel after getting information about a gang having gathered there with evil plans. The youth started to run away at the sight of the policemen but they were chased and apprehended. During the questioning, the gang members reportedy told the policemen that they had planned to intercept vehicles passing by the spot at night and rob the people inside them.

A case stands registered against the gang members in Kavoor police station.

    PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE. Congrats to the alert Police for timely action.
    Investigations will perhaps reveal details of the plot and the affiliation of other culprits with the gang.
