Kundapur: Hit by unidentified vehicle, leopard dies

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Oct 8: The carcass of a leopard was found on the road at Kakkunje Cross near Halady in the taluk on Friday October 7 morning. Apparently, it was hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle the previous night.

After the locals alerted the forest officials stationed at Shankarnarayana, they came to the spot and took the body of the animal into possession.

People living in and around Halady village located at the foot of the Western Ghat have been sighting leopards frequently. At night, domestic animals like cows, calves and dogs are being attacked and killed. The people have again requested the forest department to take proper action and save them from the menace of leopard attacks.

When we develop forests we must sure that apart from Tigers and Leopards the government must also introduce enough smaller animals like Rabbits Deer etc so that these non vegetarian animals get food Other wise there will be imbalance in life and problems of migration of non vegetarian animals to towns which would create a havoc!

In the current eco-system of the western ghats, the correct way will be to allow animals that can co-habit with humans. Introducing big carnivorous animals as the solution to develop forest is so incorrect. Neither pushing people already settled there out would be incorrect.
    - Instead stop any major projects that affect forest land.
    - Introduce trees within cities. Make it compulsory
    - People have been living in harmony with nature in the western ghat villages.
    - Disallow illegal lumber destruction
    - Introduce animals that can co-habit with humans
    - The carnivorous cats are meant for the zoos or forests around the world where there is lesser human population.

Carnivorous cats like Lions, Tigers, Leopards should be made to cohabitate with beef eating humans...

Vegetarian animals like monkeys, deer's, rabbits should be made to cohabitate with veg eating humans...

Anybody from Daiji commenters have any problems with this???

God created all animals including meat eating big cats like lion, tiger, cheetah, leopards, jaguars to bring balance in the wild as there are thousands of grass and leaves fed animals like wild cows, wild sheep, goats, bison, buffalo, deer, elk, wildebeest, zebras, kangaroos . . . there are just too many, but all these animal are near extinct due deforestation, poaching and other man made adverse things to these animals, naturally an imbalance is created in food cycle of animals. And these meat eating animals left with no choice but to invade human habitats and look for food in dogs, cows, goats, and chicken....

    - God did not create them. If he did he could have just put limit on how much the herbivorous animals could have reproduced. So he had no reason to create carnivorous animals.
