Mangaluru, Oct 9: Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah arrived at Mangaluru airport, on his way to Puttur taluk for the foundation stone laying ceremony for Veterinary College under Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Science University on Sunday, October 9.

Cauvery issue

Speaking to media on the question that Cauvery row, expert committee visiting the state CM Siddaramaiah said “We have the assurance of getting justice. We had appealed to the union government to send expert team for the assessment on ground realities of both states. Team will assess situation like what is rainfall, amount of water stored in reservoirs, why we want water, and what is the situation of crops. And they will submit a report. Supreme Court will take decision on October 18 based on the report.”

Referring to Mahadayi water dispute, CM said that already there is a tribunal constituted. “I I have also written letters to PM, Chief Ministers of Goa, Maharashtra. Maharashtra CM has invited for dialogue in Mumbai on October 21.”

Gokarna temple

On taking over the management of Gokarna Temple by the government, CM said “There is no such proposal before the government. As someone filed public interest litigation (PIL), the matter is before the court. The court has also asked the government’s decision. Government advocate will answer it and I have not discussed this matter with the lawyer.”

Promotion of son in politics

On a question about the CM promoting his younger son in politics, he said “I have not promoted my son for the elections. When my elder son was alive, he used to look after the constituency as I had no time. But after his death, I have asked my younger son to look after the constituency and problems of people. He is a doctor. He has no interest in politics but I have told him to spare time for the constituency once a week. When I visited the constituency I introduced him to the electorate.”

“I have only introduced my son to the electorate. Can it be called promoting? Which law says that I should not to introduce my son as son? Is it is an offence?” Siddaramaiah questioned.

Yettinahole

On on-going project Yettinahole and there is no 24 TMC water available from the project as per the experts he said “I will call a meeting on that issue. Experts also told the government that there is more than 24 TMC water available and based on this opinion, we started the project. It is not Nethravati diversion. It is a wrong notion. The rain water is lifted from certain places and there is no problem to any people and to people of Mangaluru.

On Paschimavahini project he said he will look into the matter.

Customary welcome

Siddaramaiah was welcomed with customary Chande music and Pili Vesha, the famous tiger dance of Dakshina Kannada district.

All the ministers from the district, people’s representatives and Congress leaders and workers were present at the airport.

Firstly it was Nethravathi diversion. But because of some protests it was named as Yethinahole diversion and since protests are going on in a strong way it is renamed as Yettinahole lifting of rainwater. May be some more names may come in future days.Let us watch and see.

If rain is there water is there in the river. One side fighting for cauvery water other side drying Netravati water not acceptable. CM should invite same Netravati central water comity to inspect yettinahole water resources too.

This guy thinks there is a glacier feeding nethravathi... what a joke.. politicians know ppl of dakshin kannada are far too soft and educated to take to streets. Let's see the reaction if a new canal is built to get water from Harangi or KRS to Mangalore. .

Never believe these people. They are excellent at telling lies. During the time of independence, through deception they manage to make Tulu Nadu, Konkani Rastir and Kodava Nadu as Karnatak. saying that collection of rain water is the latest in the list of deception. Never believe these Kannada parties.

Good to see traditional welcome "Plivesa" . Whatever may be the odds, I think Siddu is good man. Even he occasionally dozes off. Hope there was no inconvenience to the general public at the airport. Never knew there are so many Congress Karyakartas in mangalore. Only saw Lobo aam, Ivan aam, Khaderjii and Raijee. If all the people in group photo work towards betterment of Mangalore ( as congress is in power) surely Mangalore will become smart city .

We, the people of Dakshina Kannada district do not tire of saying that we are very educated. However, the fact is that although we are educated, we can be easily fooled and this is what is happening now. We are not smart enough to read between the lines. The politicians have outsmarted the 'educated' people of this district. Whether we like it or not, that is a fact.

Look at pictures 3,4,5,6 & 7 from top. Who is at the right? who is a the left? and at the center?. Siddana Hat's off!.
People from Kudla are also smart, just posing for media, doesn't make a good CM. You need to perform.
If you are just lifting water, why lift from Yettinahole??. Can't you lift from anywhere else??. Don't think we listen to all these and forget the core issue. Our rivers have no sufficient water today, rainfall is 21% deficient. So even now you are saying, we are lifting water. You should be happy that we humble Tulunad people, still welcome you peacefully. That's our history & legacy. Don't cheat the people who gave you the power.

    Dear Shankar, Mangalore,

Tamil Nadu is also getting rain water. Why they are not collecting rain water???!!!

Are they giving to Karnataka for Chickaballapur, and Kolar.

    Sun, Oct 09 2016

Chikballapu and kolar too receive rains.
problem is that there is no concern on rain water harvesting.
Rainwater harvesting does not cost much. hence less commission.
Yethinahole project is a multicrore project .. so there is scope for good commissions.
