Bantwal, Oct 9: After the survey of submerging area of land due to new vented dam at Thumbay, to provide water to Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah said that proper compensation will be provided to those who would lose land. .



He was speaking to media at guest house here after the inauguration of ‘Jodumarga Udayanavana’ a triangle shaped park between two roads at Bantwal here on Sunday, October 9.

Compensation for Thumbay land losers

As the CM had no proper knowledge about the dam, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai and UT Khader briefed about the project. Rai also explained that the dam work which was going at slow pace gained momentum after the Congress government came to power in the state. “ It has also been decided to provide roper compensation to the people who would be shifted from the area.” Rai said.

Separate sand policy for district

CM also said that after constituting a separate committee to solve the sand problem in the district, a new separate sand policy for the district will be implemented.

On Yettinahole project he repeated what he said in Mangaluru that the project is sending water to plains and not Nethravati river diversion. “Additional water during the rainy season will be pumped to plains. Intention of this project is to provide the drinking water to the people of plains. Is it possible to divert river? People have wrong notion on this project and this problem will be solved.” Siddaramaiah said.

Communalism

“Communalism is threat to entire country and society. Government will take stringent action against communalism no matter it comes from which community. Media should condemn communalism, but should not exaggerate it.” CM said.

Mangaluru City Corporation mayor Harinath along with other corporators submitted a memorandum to sanction compensation grant to the people who lose land due to new dam.

On this occasion MLA Abhayachandra Jain, Ivan D' Souza, Mithun Rai, and others were present.

Jodumarga Udayanavana park inauguration

Earlier c Siddaramaiah inaugurated ‘Jodumarga Udayanavana’ park which was constructed with an outlay of Rs 1.40crore under Nirmal Bantwal in co-operation with Bantwal Town Municipal at BC Road circle.

Ramanath Rai, UT Khader, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, Ivan D' Souza, town municipal president Ramakrishna Alva, vice president Mohammed Nandarabettu, taluk panchayat president Chandrahasa Karkera, vice president Abbas Ali, standing committee member Dhanalakshmi Bangera, Bantwal rural development authority president Pius Rodrigues and others were present.

CM also unveiled name plaque.

    - Looks very beautiful now but
    - Triangular roads pollute air.
    - Approx Garden space is 1 acre and too small for a Bantwal Town.
    - Residence neighborhood is too far and no kids or elders would venture in such a traffic busy roads.
    - Come Summer months, scorching heat would make this dry place and very unlikely to get visitors.
    - This place is ideal for bus-stand as current one is too cramp and crowded already under flyover.

    Looks like all enjoying mangalore food. May be arranged by ramnath raiji. How they consume and swallow when chamachs looks on. May be after one year all there projects to be completed by bjp as these people do not hold much funds. Nanage Ondusa Aarth Aagu Deela..
    Hinge Aadhare Henge Swami..additional expenses on ex-chequer. Just watch modiji only depend upon water/nimbu panee during navratri and busy all the time for sake of nation.
