Mangaluru: Derogatory post about Hindu gods on Facebook - one held

Mangaluru, Oct 10: In connection with the act of posting outrageous material about the presiding deity of Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple in Facebook, police have taken an accused, Shaffi Moodubelle Bellare, into custody. He was arrested from the international airport here on Sunday October 9.

It may be recalled that the post had enraged the people, who had held protests demanding stern action against the offenders.

Lookout notice had been issued for Shaffi's arrest in the past relating to the above incident. As soon as he alighted from a flight from Bahrain and came out of the airport, he was taken into custody by the police who were waiting for him.

Inspector of Bunder police station here, Shantaram, who gave the above information, stated that Shaffi is being questioned at present.

    The Arabian Peninsula during the time of the Prophet was a region in which various faiths were present. There were Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, polytheists, and others not affiliated with any religion. When one looks into the life of the Prophet, one may draw on many examples to portray the high level of tolerance shown to people of other faiths.

    The dealings of the Prophet, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, with other religions can best be described in the verse of the Quran:

    “To you be your religion, to me be mine.”

    If he indeed posted the derogatory post about other religion he is not following the path of his own religion.

    Freedom of any kind including freedom of expression has limits.
    I have freedom to drive a car on the road. This does not mean that I have freedom of speed (both low or high), freedom of honking etc.
    The guy in this case appears to have misused his freedom of expression to hurt sentiments of adherents of Hindu faith and needs to be punished if found guilty.

    I do not think majority Hindus hurt,so did ignored the derogatory comments on FB regarding Kateel Goddess as it deserves.Such comments are result of ones minds sickness should not be taken seriously.Better leave it there...no need to punish such creature....

    No one has the right to abuse others faith and religion, simply because we live in secular country.

    This is a lesson for others who insult or use derogatory comments on others religion.
    Give and take respect.
    Punishment in Muslim country for any such comment would be severe.

    This goon was giving public sermons on peace and harmony in and around DK targeting Sangh Parivaar and his followers circulating his hate speeches in social media. Finally he stands exposed caught with his pants down. This is one of his sample discipline. I am surprised how come his activities were not caught or monitored in Bahrain as gulf countries are very much cautious about such religious extremists in the region who are hell bent is disturbing peace in the society by their extreme views. Well done Mangalore Police.

    Pardon and release him. Do not file a case him so that he can travel abroad again continue his job.He might have commitments.

    His post has neither affected my faith on Durgambika nor I have personally felt any pain. Rather a sense of sympathy or pity towards the state of mind of this guy, prevailed on me.

    @Shanker Mangalore,respect.you are ready to pardon him but not everybody.And he should feel his mistake and ,not use his freedom in future to extreem beyond line,.when a elastic band is streched too much,it gives off,so also is Patience.and many of them.second,it should be a lesson to others what can happen if they do so.Certainly he must be knowing the rules of deregatory post in media .It is not that he has stolen a chocolate.Once he goes to foreign countrys he may continue the same and never find him.In foreign punishment might be very very bad than in India.
