Udupi: Tipper hits bike near Hebri, pillion rider woman dies

Udupi, Oct 10: A mini tipper lorry hit a bike and the pillion rider woman died on the spot at Kanyana near Hebri on Monday, October 10.

Pushpalatha (33) is the woman deceased.

When Shyam Jayaprakash was riding the bike towards Hebri with his wife Pushpalatha and 4 year old son Viviyon, the tipper hit them from behind. Pushpalatha fell on the road and the tipper moved over her body killing her instantly. Jayaprakash and Viviyon sustained minor injuries and are out of danger.

Hebri police have taken tipper driver Satish Jogi into custody and registered a case.

    It is time for the authorities to consider installation of speed governors to control the speed of vehicles like the tippers.

    These kind of accidents are on the increase where precious lives are lost.
