Mangaluru: Rains bring much needed relief to people as festivities continue

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Oct 12: Unexpected rains on Tuesday October 11, brought relief to the people of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Though some light showers are witnessed during the Navaratri festivals, what they experienced on Tuesday was more than that. Almost all parts of twin districts including city witnessed good rains.

Even though the weather has been pleasant, both districts have been in shortage of annual rainfall. When winter had entered the region, rains were not anticipated so soon. People had fears that rains were completely over. But the sudden rains brought new hope in people during the festivities.

People did not take the rains as any impediment during celebrations. But they said it was much needed.

Electricity supply was seen interrupted in city and other parts throughout the day several times.

Moodbidri, Kinnigoli, Kaup, Belthangady, Karkala, Udupi, Mulky and almost all places in the region reported good rains.

It is remembered that Mysuru too received good rains during famous Jamboo Savari. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also said later that he had offered prayers for rains.
