SC to Karnataka: Continue giving 2,000 cusecs to Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked Karnataka to continue supplying 2,000 cusecs of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu everyday till further orders.

While continuing with its October 4 order, the bench of Justice Dipak Misra, Justice Amitava Roy and Justice A.M. Khanwilkar said it would be incumbent upon the governments of both states to maintain peace and harmony.

People should not become law unto themselves, the bench said.

With less water in its dams than Tamilnadu as per the report filed by fact finding delegation how come the court decided about this order?
Has the Court Got the Power to bring back the water flowed if Karnataka needs it to provide drinking water to its people? If not the court should re consider its order as it cannot undo the damage it is doing by this order.
