Kasargod: Robber who escaped from police custody arrested

Kasargod, Oct 20: The police investigating team arrested a suspect in a robbery, who escaped from police custody. The said suspect is identified as  Mohammed Haneef (27), a resident of Manjeshwara Kedambadi, an auto rickshaw driver by profession.

He had entered the house of Ravindranath Shetty in Kadambar on September 9. After threatening the inmates, he fled with 19.5 sovereigns of gold, Rs 25,000 and a car parked in the house yard.


The police said that Hanif has been accused several times of threatening victims and robbing them. He is accused of breaking the door on the first floor of the house belonging to Khamarunnisa in Machampady and robbing the computer and tab there. Police say that more than 15 theft cases have been registered against him.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery in Kadambar.  The investigating team has already recovered about half  the items stolen by the accused, including a car and bike used in the robbery.
