Puttur: Midnight attack - man dragged out of house, beaten up

Puttur, Oct 23: In an incident which occurred at Ojala falling under the jurisdiction of the town police station limits here, a man who was sleeping inside his home was dragged out by a gang which forcibly entered his home. After dragging the head of the family out, the gang attacked him with bottles and swords. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday October 22.

The gang having seven to eight members unexpectedly attacked Krishnappa, resident of Ojala in Kodippady village after waking him up from deep sleep. Krishnappa's wife, Mamata's clothes were torn by the gang members. The accused also are said to have pulled out golden chain worn around the neck of the couple's four-year-old daughter. In a complaint filed in the town police station, Krishnappa said that his motor bike and Maruti Omni vehicle parked in the courtyard were also damaged by the gang members with sickles.

Injured Krishnappa stands admitted into a private hospital here. Policemen are investigating the case.
