Shivamogga, Oct 24: In a horrific incident which has been reported from the town, a girl student from Bengaluru, who reportedly had deserted her home, was kept in solitary confinement for about one and half months by local miscreants. The girl, it is said, had run away from her home, having been unable to withstand the illicit relationship her mother was involved with. During her confinement, she was repeatedly gang-raped, it is learnt.

The police have since arrested accused, Shah Rukh, Taufiq, Amjad, Yusuf, Mubarak and Parveen Banu, who stay in Imam Bada extension, Sulebail and Sakrebail in and around the town.

The victim, a 17-year-old student residing in AGS Extension in Bengaluru and studying second PU at Kolar, was fed up by the unbearable environment at her home. Reportedly she arrived at the town from Bengaluru by train on September 7. An auto driver named Shah Rukh spotted her sitting alone at the railway station here, and struck a conversation with her. She explained to him her problems, pains and sorrow. He promised to help her, and took her to different areas of the town in his auto rickshaw. During this period, he picked up friends, Amjad and Taufiq. The girl was led near the banks of River Tunga in the outskirts of the town at Sakrebail where the girl was raped. Thereafter, the girl was forcibly taken to a house in Sulebail where again the girl was gang-raped repeatedly, it is said.

As per information, the girl was kept in confinement in the house of Yusuf, brother-in-law of Amjad. Yusuf's wife, Parveen Banu and her younger brother, Mubarak, not only ensured that the girl did not get to sneak out, but also tortured her during the period of confinement. Yusuf in course of time, developed cold feet as he was afraid that he might face legal consequences if the girl is kept for more time. He therefore led the girl to the women's police station here on October 20 but they did not record any statement. On October 21, they left the girl at Surabhi Ujwala Counselling Centre before escaping. Thereafter, police went in search of the accused, it is gathered.

Send all rapists/trouble-mongers to the Pakistan border, to face the Pakistani Rangers' bullets. Please do no extend any "bail-bhagya" to these wretched specimens of society.

This could save many of our patriotic soldiers from losing their lives.
