I was one of the injured in the bus. It was the mistake of the BUS driver. I was sitting in the first row near the door so could see everything clearly. The bus driver was trying to do a 180 degree turn in as little as 10 m length!
I was also wondering why the driver was turning so rashly. The tanker driver neither had the time nor the possibility of seeing the bus driver move from his left completely to the right U turn towards the Udupi entry point.

Yes almost every body was injured in someway or the other. Traumatic too.
Thanks to all the local people who helped pull us out of the bus and the rickshaw/car owners who shipped us to Hi tech hospital.
Thanks to Doc and staff for prompt addressal of our medical needs.
God's grace that there was no casualty.

Great. The tanker driver should be given pilot licence now as he has attempted to overtake a express bus. However he was always had be be unsuccessful in a overtaking these buses as no one can overtake these buses...😃

All Bus Drivers need to understand that," They are responsible for all the passengers life and safety. They are guardians and protectors as far the passengers in the bus". The owners should not put too much stress on drivers go over speed or overloaded.

We all talk when crisis comes but forget soon, never ever learn lesson from our past mistakes.

Hope and pray all will get well soon.

its a clear picture that its the bus mistake . as per news taker was overtaking and hit bus from behind . but there is not even one scratch on the bus from behind. direct damage is to the side body of the bus where bus has taken a sharp right in front of the tanker and tanker hit the side body of the bus and it toppled. poor tanker driver arrested . its agreed that no one follows traffic rules in india but mistake of a bus driver shouldn be blamed on tanker driver. no truck lane or heavy vehicle lane in india . pay money and get licence is the biggest mistake our corrupt RTO is doing by which many innocent life's are lost . first of all there should be a test for road signs then road test . until officials are corrupt and licenece system doesn't change we can only do is pray to the departed souls .

This mistake is not only the tanker driver's, bus driver is also equally responsible. these express bus drivers are the most rash drivers in our area. Due to some political pressure police had to arrest the truck driver. Use government buses. they drive relatively slow and safely.

Check the last part of news article! As per some people who may be eyewitness, the bus overtook the tanker from left side and then suddenly took a right turn! Obviously tanker driver cant do magic in such situations!

If that is the case, pull out the driver from the bus and give him 3 or 4 tight raps (kaan patttis). He will automatically come to his hosh (senses). We do the same in Bombay also if anybody thinks they are the baap of the road. Try it out there. This is the only way to make them understand. You will see the difference. Don't keep quiet. Otherwise they will take undue advantage of the situation.

@jossey - how about transferring bullet tankers using sea link. Slow and steady wins the race.
Mangalore connects well with Karwar and Kochi please try that option. You can also download in Goa. Old Mangalore Port is suitable for that?
