Udupi, Nov 12: "Our constitution has given us right to live as per the tenets of the religion we practice. If the government meddles with Shariat law, we will be compelled to fight back," said district Qazi, Shaikhuna Bekal Ustad.

He was speaking after inaugurating a protest meeting organized under the aegis of the district union of Sunni organizations opposite Clock Tower near service bus stand here, against the moves like doing away with triple talaq provision, proposal to enforce uniform civil code etc on Friday November 11.

He warned that the government will be solely responsible for repercussions if any if it implements decision to bar triple talaq system without holding consultation with Muslim scholars.

Sunni Students Federation state president, Maulana N K M Shaffi Saadi, in his address, warned the government of filing case against it if it interferes in basic rights of Muslims and tries to ammend Shariat principles and enforce uniform civil code. He advised the government to restrict itself to people-friendly measures like regulating black money. He asked the government not to play political gimmicks in connection with Uttar Pradesh politics and warned that 20 crore Muslims in the country will come together and fight against the government if their democratic rights are curtailed, as every Muslim has the responsibility of protecting Islam and Shariat.

Taufeeq Abdulla presided over the meeting. Advocate, Hamzat Hejamady, delivered introductory address. Ashraf Raza Amjadi welcomed. Abdurrahman Rizi Kalkatta presented the programme. Assayyed Koteshwar Tangal performed Dua.

Till Muslim leaders are get well educated & think progressively, these dramas will continue. If people think Islam unites people, then why there is 15+ small Islamic countries in Gulf.

One more thing, US is not spoiling Gulf. Saudi kings bought US army to safeguard them from neighbouring Islamic countries. To control the Oil price dominance Saudi plays so many shitty games in that region.

If we want follow shariyath, then all the crimes should be punished as per Shariyath law. Cut & cut...

There is no point in swimming backwards in a stream. I urge educated Muslim population to come forward & guide their community forward. There is nothing wrong in empowering your future daughters.

So much is spoken of enforcement of uniform civil code and meddling with shariat law and triple talaq. Let me try to shed light on the rights of a muslim women.islam is a only religion where the girl does not take over the name of the husband but retains that of the father.when a girl is married off her mehr amount is determined at the time if the marriage so that in case of divorce she does not go through difficulties. Here meher is given by the groom to the bride and not vice versa. Her share is fathers wealth is predetermined as well as her right in her husbands wealth. We talk abt how easily women are divorced in islam but does tht really happn.these kind of men can be counted in fingers.when two people are not happy in a relation its better to be separated then to live together because of society pressure.but then its also a religion where remarriage if a divorce or a widow is hugely accepted and not looked down upon. For us muslim our religion plays most important role in our lives but its also written in our holy book " Quran verse 2-256 there is no compulsion in religion Quran vesrse 109.6 for you is your religion for me is my religion.so please leave us with our shariat law.its we who will accept whatever it decrees.

    Dear All,

Don't judge book by looking at its cover,

[109:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

    [109:1] Say, "O you disbelievers.

[109:2] "I do not worship what you worship.

[109:3] "Nor do you worship what I worship.

[109:4] "Nor will I ever worship what you worship.

[109:5] "Nor will you ever worship what I worship.

[109:6] "To you is your religion, and to me is my religion."
and all those whose comment above shows your week knowledge of religious of Islam, My question here to Non Muslim, why you people are so bothered about Islam, we are not advising or forcing to follow our religious teaching with any no Muslim therefore there is not point of questioning to our religious, we have not said anything from your religious teaching not to follow so there is no point of showing finger to us, true follower of religious of Islam they are very happy either women our men and if some don't want to follow then its left to them and kindly don't judge any religion by considering its follower but read its holy book clearly to understand truth.we are not following blindly or believing blindly, we are more conscious about what we are doing, someone said to go to Pakisthan its non of your business, wen know what we want to do, its shows weeds which you carry in your head.see Doctor should give medicine to patience not business man, similarly religious scholar should guide and should show right path to its follower nor politician or businessman, if someone dont want to follow teaching of Islam , let them follow what they want to follow, we never force anyone to do that this, and no one have right to say someone don't follow that or don't do that. follow your religious which ever you are following spread love homonym in society.

In one way I agree that the government should not interfere into the personal lives of its citizens, but in the same breath I will add that as a community you’ll are doing very little or nothing to protect your very own loved ones. How long can any government stay silent and not interfere when woman (who are an integral part of our society) continue to knock on the doors seeking justice in large numbers demanding to be treated fairly. The government will eventually look into their grievances, enact laws and enforcing them. This will result in friction and high tension, but at the end of the day the government will eventually prevail. So here are some soul searching questions

    - Going by what your scholars are saying, do you feel that they are fair to your mothers, your sisters, your daughters and grand daughters. Do you strongly believe in the equality of both sexes?
    - Shariat has been unchanged for 1400 years, and the leaders of the community say that these law should stay the same till eternity, are these laws fair to a woman and are woman going to wait till eternity?
    - Do you really want to protect woman who are closely related by blood, and protect them when you see them abused or blindly support the males as his God given rights?
    - Where are the voices of woman in the crowd, or any level in the policy making process?

If you seek equality, and protection for all, in particular the under privileged then you MUST raise your voices and let your leaders act now by enact those changes to treat woman fair and square. Please do not get me wrong, but we are in the 21st century and if you don’t change then regrettably the governments around the world will act on your behalf and enforce that change and you will have no one else to blame other than yourselves.

UCC is the need of the hour.

In Maharastra, yesterday, one muslim woman, mother of a child, hit her husband on the road side because he was flirting with a woman and when she caught her husband, he said talaq three times and divorced her. Other people also joined her and thrashed him nicely.

Leaders, be careful, women will not be the part of your game. This is men centric, power hungry leaders creating the issue.

Common men, whose mothers/sisters who are the victim of talaq will not support the so called selfish power hungry leaders.

Problem is only with Muslim scholars, and not with general Muslim population..
triple talaq should be valid if the reason for talaq is valid and proved in the court..

120 crore hindus of hindustan will unite and support modi to bring UCC in india to safeguard our national intrest. 20 crore no match. Muslims want to retain triple talak, polygamy, child marriage to breed and increase their population growth rate and then divide the nation in the name of islam same as in 1947 where our hindustan was divided into east n west pak. Now kashmir wants to get divided in the name of islam and turn whole to islamization sharia law. Minorities suffer under sharia law as we can see pak hindus sufferings. No more our hindustan will divide in the name of religion rather one nation one law. Jai hindu.

"He warned that the government will be solely responsible for repercussions if any if it implements decision to bar triple talaq system without holding consultation with Muslim scholars."
Very inappropriate use of words. Warning the Government, means he should be really a powerful man.
But Please do not take everything negatively. Any religion has good and bad practices. As Indians, we should adopt good practices and live aside bad practices, which hurt the peaceful fabrics of the society. The Government is giving ample opportunities to all the stake holders, before taking the final decision.

The central Govt. is not interfering with Muslim' Sahriat law in particular.
It is just going forward in implementing common civil code, which might inconvenience all the religions in one or the other way.
I think only Christians will not feel the pinch because they follow mostly all the internationally accepted reasonable practices which the central govt. plans to put forward.

A vast sector of Hindus, where only the sons get the parental property, will have to change. Coz, under UCC, both sons and daughter will have equal rights on parental property.

Muslims will really feel the pinch because they still follow the draconian laws where women is treated as second grade human being. Women from the Muslim community will be the best beneficiaries of UCC.

India is marching forward. If you want to be with the stream, follow the laws of the land. Or take a Visa to Pakistan, the nearest safe haven where the draconian laws are practiced with utmost sincerity!
