M'luru: Cong to organize mega convention of party workers on Nov 19

Mangaluru, Nov 15: “As part of the nationwide celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi, mega convention of party workers will be organized at Nehru Maidan in the city on November 19 at 2 pm,” said district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai.

Addressing media persons here at district congress office Rai said, “Indira Gandhi was one of the greatest leaders this country has ever seen. She was the one who brought in many programs for the betterment of poor. Many reforms like nationalisation of banks, land development act, widow pension, title deed and many others programs were introduced by her.”

“This convention will be a gathering of party workers from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga and Chikkamagluru districts. National leaders of the party including Digvijay Singh, Mallikarjun Kharge, Chellakumar, Oscar Fernandes, Shantharam Naik, state leaders like Dharam Singh, all the ministers along with the chief minister will participate in the programme.”

Inauguration of new Congress office

“Chief minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka in charge, Digvijay Singh will inaugurate the new Congress office on the same day at 11 am.”

Nehru Statue

“The new statue built by the MCC in Nehru Maidaan will also be inaugurated prior to the convention on the same day,” he added.
