Udupi: PFI launches ‘Healthy People Healthy Nation’ campaign

Udupi, Nov 17: A popular national health campaign by the Popular Front of India (PFI), ‘Healthy People Healthy Nation’ was launched on Tuesday November 15 here. Mohsin Gulburga, state treasurer of Popular Front of India, inaugurated the campaign by waving the organisation's flag. He said, “We can build a strong India, only when the youth of the country are strong. Popular Front of India is organising many social programmes to build a healthy society. It is fighting for the rights of Dalits and Aboriginals.” He also said that he is proud of the solders who are martyrs for the country.

Chief guest of the occasion, director of Adarsha groups G S Chandrashekhar said, “Healthy people and healthy society play lead roles in the development of the country. There is an urgency to fill confidence in the minds of the youth to make them health teachers. 30% of the people in the country suffer on account of overweight and diabetes. Scientists predict the chances of nearly 7 crore people suffering from diabetes. So this a good move on the part of PFI towards creation of a healthy society.”

Dr Rahim, health director of Meridian Health Resort Koteshwara, addressing the gathering said, “India has became the global capital of diabetic patients. Our country has already reached the top on cancer. Youth below the age of 40 suffer from heart related deseases. So youth must adopt healthy food habits.”

A marathon from Clock Tower to Ajjarkad was conducted. Before the stage function a yoga and exercise exhibition was organised.

State secretary of All India Imam Council Mufti, Mu-Anzam-Moulana, district secretary of SDPI and director of Prakruthi Ayur Care, Indrali, Abdul Rahman Malpe, state member of PFI Nissar Brahmavara, district president of PFI Fazal Ali Udupi were present on the occasion.

Alam Brahmavar welcomed the guests, Sadique Dupe presented the vote of thanks, Hanif Neelavara hosted the programme.
