Bengaluru: Curbing black money, demonetisation okay but spare the people, says CM

Bengaluru, Nov 19: While fully supporting the Narendra Modi regime’s tough action against black money and the demonetisation of high value currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 with effect from November 8 midnight, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Centre could have handled the situation better without causing undue sufferings and miseries to the people.

"The Centre should have been well prepared and put in place adequate safety and precautionary measures to spare the people," he said.

Speaking to reporters at his home office of Krishna in Bengaluru on Friday, he said: ""We are totally supporting steps against curbing black money in the market."

But the Centre has not ensured adequate supply of other currency notes in the market and farmers, petty businessmen, and poor common people have been adversely affected by demonetisation of higher denomination notes, Siddaramaiah said.

He also lamented that there was no response from the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely to the two letters written by him on the inconveniences and difficulties of the ordinary people, especially the poor, middle classes and rural masses, including farmers.

"Patients visiting private hospitals are also affected most as hospitals are not accepting old 500 and 1000 rupee denomination currency notes. Pharmacies are not selling drugs by accepting the demonetised currency notes," he said.

Farmers have also not been able to repay their loans to cooperative banks as banks are not accepting old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, he said.

"Our request to the Centre to allow all cooperative banks to accept old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 has not been honoured. When fuel stations can accept demonetised notes and even dispense currency notes, why can’t the District Cooperative Banks be allowed to do it?," he asked and said the cooperative sector was the key interface in the financial market in the rural areas.

ok sir. at least you supported demonetization. regarding trouble for public, this gentleman is the key problem maker. just due to the vote bank especially relying on minority community ... recently hit the major attack on public declaring Tippu Jayanthi...so many people killed. so not eligible to speak on this. At least on this demonetization, public is happy to take this burden.

    I appreciate CM Siddu's statements.
He honestly appreciated curbing black money, demonetization.
But decried inefficiency on the part of Union Govt in preparedness, exchange of old notes serious trouble to common man.
While Money Lords and mining baron Reddy are capable of handling 500 crore wedding.
People should talk sense like that.
Shouldn't oppose right moves and shouldn't applaud wrong moves.

European Union, IMF, World Bank, Mogaveer Community of mangalore market are appreciating much work of modiji. More.than 82% people favour the decision. Rest who lifelong avoided tax and remitted there money are much upset. Let them use bank transactions here after and not hundi. Money which kept in different locations at home are now of no use.

Should appreciate chief minister's stand. Other's should follow him quickly. Not to politicse the issue. It's for sake of nation.
Congress ne 2014 kaha tha ki..
Din ke 40 rupayeae se zyadh karch karne wala ghareeb nahi...
Aur ab bol rahe hai din ke 2000 rupayeae mein bhi ghareeb ka pet nahi bar raha..
    Kamaal hai yaar...
    Even president appreciated modiji's move.
They themselves have different views in the party. Really strange with even born chamachas stick to one party itself.

Being a CM of Karnataka state your suggestion in Curbing black money demonetisation is justified. Why you are silent on the issue of Reddy's daughter's wedding(Bellary, Karnataka) who has spent multicrores rupees during this hard time entire country is experienced. Without taking appropriate action being a lawyer by profession and CM of Karnataka state!!!(Battery down?)

CM is right. Some critical thinking is required by PM before implementing such action.

1.Make sure all the banks have enough currencies.

2.All the ATM’s required d before implementing the action.

3.All the foreign exchanges must have enough currencies.

4.Make token system for public like cash exchange, deposit, and cash withdrawal. This could have solved long ques and panic. Like 100 or 1000 persons per day for each category.

5.Never allow media to spread wrong information and all the information need to be authorized by RBI head.

6.They could issue temporary ID card to all above 18 years so they could use that card only once to deposit currencies. Also, the time should be minimum to avoid fake ID cards. As we all know India is the hub for such things.

Still there is time to correct this issue. But what to do our PM is Running horse and want to win only his game. He is not team player.

When fuel stations can accept demonetised notes and even dispense currency notes, why can’t the District Cooperative Banks be allowed to do it?,

Dear CM Please study economics ... fule stations can only accept old notes and they can not lend money to any one ..where as coopertive bank if the start accepting old noted then they will simply lend to all real estate people same money... as simple as it

The BJP have no expertise how to handle demonetised rupee.

They are good in blowing in their mouths in-front of T.V., and taking selfies.

Tuglak had enough leather to issue notes.
