Udupi: Fishing worker slips from boat, drowns

Udupi, Nov 21: A fishing worker, Pramod Kumar Naik (37), of Odisha origin, lost his life at Malpe port on Sunday November 20. When setting the fishing net in order, he suddenly slipped from the boat and fell into the sea. The accident happened near the second jetty at Malpe port.

Naik was working for Yashoda P Kunder boat. Unexpectedly he fell down into the water perhaps after slipping and losing balance. Although some fishermen rushed to his rescue, he could not be found immediately. He became visible in water after some time. He was then taken to hospital, but the doctors said he had already breathed his last.

A case of unnatural death stands filed at Malpe station in this connection.
