Kundapur: Hegde focuses on life skills at Gurukula annual day

Kundapur, Nov 23: "Students should not concentrate solely on getting more marks. They have to learn life skills during their school days, thereby blossoming into rays of hope for creating our future society," asserted chancellor of Nitte Deemed University, Nitte Vinay Hegde.

He spoke to the students and parents after taking part in the 11th annual day celebrations of Gurukula Public School and PU college at Vakwady, and distributing prizes to students who had passed with high marks. "Day-to-day interests and hobbies, creative activities and works for which we get hands-on experience and other such things will play a major role in shaping our future. Guidance from teachers and elders, reflections of ideal personalities, and relentless hard work will help one to tread the noble path."

B Appanna Hegde, founder of Bhandya Educational Trust, speaking on the occasion, said that Gurukula educational institutions have emerged as leading institutions in the taluk by undertaking various educational activities. Saying that the trust aspires to undertake several society-centric educational programmes in future, he solicited the support of people in these endeavours.

Joint executive directors of the trust, Subhashchandra Shetty, Anupama Shetty and one of the trustees, K Subbanna Shetty, were present at the programme. Principal of the high school, Shaiju K Nair, and principal of the PU college, Chennabasappa, presented annual reports of their respective institutions.

Akshari Shetty welcomed the gathering. Krushali Shetty introduced the guests. Afra Sabah compered the programme. Thereafter, the students presented a beautiful cultural programme titled 'Kalaspandana' which succeeded in entertaining the audience.
