Kundapur, Dec 1: As many as 17 students were stung by a swarm of honeybees at Kambadakone primary school premises here on Thursday December 1. The bees were provoked after their hive, located near the school, was pricked by an eagle.

Students Harshit (10), Sushanth (13), Ankush (12), Subhash (12), Sujan (8), Adarsh (9), Harsha (12), Raghavendra (12), Preethesh (13), Shashank (11), Manikanta (13), Amritha (13), Ananya (13), Prajvitha (7), Anjali (10) were attacked by the bees. As Shashikala (13) and Veekshita (9) were severely stung by the bees, they have been admitted to hospital. The other children were sent home after treatment at Kundapur government hospital.

The bees had made a hive on the coconut tree in a private property near the school. When the children were standing in the premises of the school this morning, a swarm of bees attacked them. The bees surrounded the children and stung them on their legs, hands and heads. School teacher Naga Devadiga rushed them in ambulance to Kundapur government hospital.

As 17 children were stung in the attack, Kambadakone government school declared a holiday on Thursday. There was anxiety and fear in the school compound for sometime. Children were seen crying and screaming for sometime out of fear.
