Bantwal, Dec 14: In an accident which happened near Loretto church adjacent to the town on the night of Monday December 12, a pedestrian was killed. He was knocked down by a car.
The deceased was Raymond Fernandes (59), a native of Kundapur and currently residing near Loretto church. He was walking by the roadside towards his home when a Maruti Omni vehicle, which was said to be driven carelessly at high speed, hit him. He suffered serious injuries. Although locals immediately took him to a private hospital at Thumbay, he did not survive the journey to the hospital, it is gathered.
Policemen said that the car driver sped away after the accident. A case about the accident was registered din the traffic police station here.
