Puttur: Batteries worth six lac rupees stolen from parked truck

Puttur, Dec 15: In an incident which happened at Mukrampady near here on the night of Tuesday December 13, batteries worth over six lac rupees were stolen from a truck parked by the side of the highway.

Driver of the truck, Muhammed Siddique, had got the truck weighed at the scaling centre at Mukrampady industrial area. He then parked the truck by the roadside and slept in a room at the scaling centre. In the morning, he found that the batteries had disappeared from the loading dock of the truck.

The truck in question belongs to Canara Goods and Transport having its office at Nellikatte here. Batteries and other things had been loaded on to the truck on Tuesday and the vehicle was bound from Mangaluru to Madikeri and Coimbatore. 102 batteries used for heavy vehicles and two-wheelers, inverters, 15 mega batteries used in cellphone towers etc were stolen in this incident.

Manager of Canara Goods and Transport, G Shivanand Pai, has filed a complaint in the police station in the town relating to this theft.
