Bhatkal: Three ganja peddlers arrested in Gulmi

Bhatkal, Dec 20: CPI Suresh Nayak led police team on receipt of definite clues raided three houses in Gulmi near the city and arrested three suspects alleged to have been selling ganja after storing it in the houses.

The arrested are identified as Gulmi residents Fathima, Hussain and Nafisa. Ganja weighing 7 kg 250 grams was recovered from them. It is alleged that the suspects were selling the drug after filling it in small packets. It is suspected that ganja is being transported to Bhatkal from Sagar, Shivamogga and Mangaluru. Some youngsters were seen wandering about looking for ganja.

There was anxiety that large number of youngsters from the rural areas here are getting addicted to ganja. The suspects are produced in Karwar district court. Tahsildar V N Badkar visited the place and conducted an investigation. A case is registered at Bhatkal rural police station. Investigation is in progress.
