Madikeri, Dec 21: A soldier hailing from Kodagu met a tragic end in an unforeseen incident at Himachal Pradesh on Monday December 19.

The deceased is K S Rajesh (29), son of Shashi and Vatsala, residents of Bethri in Virajpet taluk.

Rajesh, who had joined MEG in 2007 was serving in Kulu Manali. He had gone out on December 17 to answer nature''s call. But as he did not return, his companions went searching for him and found him dead. It is learnt that he fell from a hill and his body was found at a depth of 500 meters with serious injuries to his head and back.

The postmortem of the body was conducted. As the temperature in Kulu Manali is sub-zero, it was difficult to the retrieve and transport the body. A distance of 300 kilometers had to be covered to reach central Manali. The body is expected to reach Rajesh''s hometown via Bengaluru on Wednesday December 21.

It is said that Rajesh had spoken to his wife for 18 minutes before going out on December 17. He leaves behind his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Inchara.

Rajesh''s parents are daily wage workers. His wife and daughter are staying in a rented house in Betri. He has two sisters.
