Kundapur, Dec 22: ''''Tuje Dayen'''' Konkani devotional hymns commemorating the golden jubilee and silver jubilee of choir group of St Pius X Church, Piusnagar, Kundapur will be released on Christmas evening at Piusnagar Church Compound.
St Pius X Church established in the year 1959 completed its golden jubilee in the year 2009. The choir team was formed in 1990 and last year the team crossed 25 years. To make both events memorable, Felix D’Souza, member of the choir team since 3 decades, and its current president planned to bring out the devotional hymns CD and give a platform to new and budding singers.
Felix D’Souza has his own business at Kundapur and he is also choir master of the church choir at Piusnagar. Whenever his service is required he is ready to serve them. He also guides other church choirs on various occasions in Kundapur deanery.
Felix D’Souza, Fr Francis Cornelio and Navis Vaz have written the lyrics and composed the tunes, while Joel Pereira has given the music for the album.
There are 13 devotional songs in the audio CD.
Felix D’Souza, Anil D’Souza, Dr Prashanth Raj, Juliana D’Souza, Shilpa Cutinha, Fr John Alfred Barboza, Harriet Braganza, Fr Antony Lopez, Ivy D’Souza, Melita Fernandes, Melissa Lewis and members of the Piusnagar Church choir have rendered their voices to the devotional album.
On the evening of Christmas, Sunday December 25, in a programme ‘Tuje Dayen’, audio CD will be released by Fr Anil D’Souza, dean, Kundapur deanery. Fr John Alfred Barboza, parish priest, Piusnagar Church will preside, while Fr John Walter Mendonca, parish priest, St Antony Church, Sasthan, Fr Xavier Pinto, director, St Antony Shrine, Kerekatte, Fr Vishal Lobo, parish priest Basrur, Fr Rayan Pious, Carmel Ashram, Katkere, Fr Alophonse D’Lima, director, Minor Seminary, Udupi diocese and Victor D’Souza, MSc counseling psychology, SIAS, Bengaluru will be present on the occasion.
Various entertainment programmes will also be staged on the occasion by the parishioners.
