Bengaluru, Dec 23: Congress MLC and chairperson of legislature committee on crimes against women and children, V S Ugrappa has demanded police action against members of Swachh Brahmana Vedike, for their remarks against him on social media.
Addressing the media on Thursday, December 22, Ugrappa said that members of the Vedike, who are also followers of Ramachandrapura Math seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swami, had attacked him in Facebook after his remarks on the seer.
On Tuesday, Ugrappa had given a statement on police inaction against the seer, who is facing sexual harassment charges by two women. The next day Ugrappa learned that Vedike members had launched an attack on him on Facebook in the form of comments.
“There are 98 messages, where various members of the group have attacked me using extremely derogatory language. They have even issued a death threat to me on the forum. They have also attacked the legislature committee, the Congress government, minorities and members of other communities,” Ugrappa said.
Ugrappa said that he will write about the development to chief minister Siddaramaiah and the home minister Dr G Parameshwar.
He also revealed that he has lodged a complaint at the Vidhana Soudha police station, seeking action against all members of the Vedike for their comments.
Ugrappa warned that if he or his family members are harmed in any manner, then the seer and his followers should be blamed for the same.
