Mangaluru, Dec 23: A Charmuri vendor in Car Street in city has taken early steps in the Digital India campaign. When other vendors are still learning about cashless business, this man has already started using the App at his shop.
Gokuldas Prabhu has been running Charmuri business for the past 15 years near famous Venkataramana temple at Car Street here. He never thought he would ever do cashless business. Some days back he attended a training camp organised by Yuva Brigade and Sevanjali Trust. After that some youth came to his place this week and asked him to go cashless. Once he agreed, they trained him. Within a day Prabhu installed eMpower App from Canara bank.
On Thursday, Prabhu started doing cashless business. Anyone who eats at his shop can transfer amount to his bank account instead of paying cash.
Prabhu did good cashless business on day one. He expects to do well. He happily says that his main intention is to contribute positively to the idea of Digital India conceptualised by the present central government led by Narendra Modi.
