Bengaluru, Dec 24: Government official, S C Jayachandra, who was found in possession of huge amount of new currency notes during income tax officials raid, and who was suspended from service thereafter, was handed over to the custody of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for two days.

The ACB officials, who have registered case about amassing of illegal wealth against Jayachandra, obtained custody of Jayachandra after seeking body warrant from Lokayukta special court here on Friday December 23. He was brought from Parappana Agrahara central prison and produced in Lokayukta special court. Thereafter, the ACB officials were permitted to take him away for two days to help with investigation of the case. On Monday, Jayachandra is expected to be produced in the court.

At the same time,  JMFC court at Maddur in Mandya district remanded KAS officer, Bheema Naik, and car driver of former minister, Janardhan Reddy, Muhammed, to judicial custody till January 4.  They have been accused of helping Reddy to get large amount of demonetised currency notes exchanged into new notes.

After criminal investigation department officials produced Bheema Naik in the court on Friday, judge of the court, P M Prakash, passed an order to hand both Naik and Muhammed to judicial custody. Before that, the plea of Bheema Naik to admit him into hospital as he was sick, was rejected by the court. Both the accused were thereafter lodged in the district prison at Mandya.
