New Mangaluru-Bengaluru day train on anvil

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 24: If sources in the department of railways are to be believed, a new train will commence operations between the city and Bengaluru by March 2017.

This train had been announced in the railway budget presented by the then railway minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, in 2014. Although the department had altogether neglected this proposal, Railway Yatri Sangha Udupi pursued the matter through the high court after initially getting negative response from the railways, as a result of which the railways was left with no other option left but to fall in line and implement its budgetary promise. A decision to run this day train was taken at the meeting of railway board held recently, it is learnt.

The ministry is expected to file an affidavit in the high court about this decision soon.

After the new train was announced as above, timing of the train had been published in 2015. As per this announcement, train number 16575/16576 was to begin its journey at Bengaluru at 8.30 am and reach the city at 6.30 pm. The new train has already got the approval of Railway Safety Commissioner, it is learnt.

I would urge the people to travel by this day train and enjoy the scenic beauty before all the trees disappear from this area. After that you will have only barren land to look at.

It is a part welcome move. Appreciate Mr. Dias who has been a dedicated person with regards to more trains to our Coastal District and his relentless effort for merging Mangalore Area to KR. I have done a dedicated survey and fount that if we have a 24 coach train fom BLR MLR via arsikere so that trains leaves BLR/MLR at 10:30 PM and reaches MLR/BLR at 6 AM then we need 2 dedicated passenger trains. That much is the demand. Also when the new line via Sharavanabelagola opens 1 train can be moved through Arsikere and other by this line. The main issue is who is going to implement. We have our Coastal Politicians who only talk and dont implement. We had three musketeers from the last 3 decades who didnt do anything and when KR was operationalised they didnt take initiation in the merger of Mangalore area to KR. Now see Mangalore area is under Palghat Division. Atleast when SWR Zone was created in 2003 if our Politicans would have fought they could have brought Mangalore area under Mysore division. Moreover when HMRDA was formed no Politicans from our area fought against this. Due to this there are severe restrictions in running passenger trains at night. Basically our Politcians from our Coastal Karnataka are not fighting for more trains from managlore to internal Karnataka. Pls note we do not have direct trains from mangalore to Hubli, Gulbarga, Belgaum etc where as from Mangalore to Kerala it is linked to all important cties and some important cities to TN. This is our fate. Out Politicans are not united when getting jobs approved from the Central and i find our Neighbour state MP go united and get there job done. Pls we need more trains, find more Kannadigas in railways in Mangalore area. Pls note im a rail fan and coming years i hope Mangalore area will have more paseenger trains to interior Karanataka and Mnagalore area be under 1 zone and not sandwiched like it is now KR/SR/SWR.
