Udupi: Accident at Yermal Bada - pillion rider dies

Udupi, Dec 25: After a tipper truck which came from behind hit a scooter at Yermal Bada village near Padubidri in the district on Saturday December 24, pillion rider of the scooter lost his life. The victim has been identified as Abubakker (60), resident of Ponkrapadpu in Uchila.

Two children of Abubakker were to be married off on December 28. In this connection, house warming and Mehndi programme were scheduled for Sunday. Abubakker was travelling in the scooter driven by his son, Masoor, to extend invitation to the priest of Yermal mosque for these programmes. The accident occurred when they got the fuel tank filled at the petrol bunk at Yermal and taking a U-turn thereafter.

Due to the impact of the accident, both Abubakker and Muhammed Masoor were tossed to the road. Abubakker, who suffered grave injuries, was admitted into a hospital immediately. But he did not survive for long there. Masoor, who suffered extensive injuries, is being treated.

The deceased has left behind wife, two sons, and two daughters.
