Kasargod, Dec 28: Two persons lost their loves in a collision between a bus and a van carrying poultry birds at Mogral Koppal Bazaar near Kumble on national highway 66 on the morning of Wednesday December 28.

Ujwal Nath (19) from Parappa Pallanji, who was driving the van, and an employee accompanying him, identified as Masood (21), resident of Cherkala Baladka, were the unfortunate victims of this terrible accident.

Due to the impact of the collision, the van caught fire and completely burnt down. Poultry birds packed in eight boxes also were killed. The bus which went out of the control of the driver after the accident, swerved out of the road and hit the wall of a nearby house before coming to a stop.

A Maruti Eco van moving towards the town from the direction of Kumble and a Volvo bus that was bound for Manipal from Thiruvananthapuram were the vehicles involved with this accident. The bus driver was also injured in the accident. He stands admitted into a private hospital in the town.

Locals and fire brigade personnel from the town rushed to the rescue of the concerned. Although they doused the flames as soon as possible and broke open the van's cabin, both the occupants of the van had already died. Both the bodies stand shifted to the mortuary of the general hospital here.
