Karwar: Man kills wife in fit of rage for silly reason

Mangaluru, Dec 30: In an incident reported from Vaddi village near Mabagi in Ankola taluk of the district on Thursday, December 29, a local, who fought with his wife over a trivial issue, hit her with a sickle, killing her instantly.

The police from Ankola have arrested the accused, identified as Mahabaleshwar Gowda (25). The victim's name has been given as Tara.

Angry that his wife did not help him in farm work, Mahabaleshwar picked up quarrel with his wife. During the argument which ensued, he suddenly picked up a sickle and swished it at his wife. Tara, who suffered deep injuries near her right ear, collapsed and died on the spot, reports said.

Tara has left behind a daughter who is two years old.

Additional district superintendent of police, Devaraju, and deputy superintendent of police, N T Pramod Rao, rushed to the village immediately after coming to know of the incident and guided investigation. Police inspector, B D Burli, arrested the accused, and the police have been grilling the accused.

In a written complaint, brother of the deceased, identified as Vishnu Gowda, alleged that the family of his sister witnessed fights regularly over property dispute and that many a time Tara had stayed away from her husband on account of this. He has urged the police to examine the role of other members of his brother-in-law's family in this murder.
