Appu Bangera, who owned D R Bakery at Kolalgiri, was returning home after closing his business. When the car hit him, the scooter was thrown away and as a consequence Appu breathed his last.

The car was driven by a student and occupied by another three students. All of them were said to be drunk. The car also overturned, but the students came out safe.

The onlookers who found the liquor bottles in the car had arguments with the students. But the students behaved rudely with them under the influence of alcohol.

Any loss of life in a road accident is a tragedy. But the situation will not improve unless you hit the people responsible for this where it hurts the most, i.e. the profits of the bars/liquor shops that sold alcohol to these students who were on the road. Whoever is the bar owner knew very well that the students are going to drink and drive and this constitutes a "criminal negligence" under law.

The family of the deceased (or any benevolent lawyer out there) should file a criminal suit and claim a compensation of at least Rs. 10 crore. Only when the courts start taking cognizance of an absolute criminal behaviour of these bar owners would they start taking some reasonable steps to reduce these incidents.

Otherwise why would any bar owner stop selling drinks to persons likely to drive on the road?

Killing while driving under influence of alcohol is a grave offense! These guys should have been taken for alcohol test n a watertight case made believe they might be spoiled brats of rich parents who can manipulate things!

Incidentally, just 2 days ago one boy/girl from MIT got killed/seriously injured late night in a 2 wheeler accident!

THIS IS THE END RESULT OF EASY MONEY FLOWING FROM PARENTS!

@A.N.souza.Udipi,it is wrong to file case against the bar keepr.he does his business. He never forces anyone to drink either,or driveafter drink. One should think, before drinking, not to drik and drive.when he doesnt have limit over his self, useless to argue.when bar keepr doesnt give what drunker asks ,beginn the quarell.Only the person who goes inside must have control over himself. Now the accused one must pay for the victims family heavy compansation, licence withdraw for ever.Only then they learn.Police should control at night specially during such holidays near bars ,all these drivers.

Abdul sounds like if I threw a rock on Abduls head from the top of the building, the rock should be held responsible. But not me. Drinking responsibly is the key thing here. The bar owners just do business and if they do not reach targets they are fined hefty by the government. No bar owners market or forcefully sell their drinks. I am a non drinker but no one has the right to stop me from consuming alcohol as it is my freedom to do so.

It's high time for government to partly bear the expenses together with the entertainment providers for taking the responsibility of managing the people through the bouncers and in-house security for avoiding teasing, chasing girls and involving in accident's after partying. Cover should be given to students, revelers, party going people and pub/club visitors. With this arrangement, lives are saved plus every one is safe.

Irresponsibility and lack knowledge of the consequences on the society of our actions are the main reasons for all these types of tragedies. The sad part is that the offenders are being educated ones, now the education being commercialised, the values are almost lost. These may be called literates, who know how to read and write, have degree with their certificates, but lack rational thinking. Our beloved PM is dreaming of India reaching to new heights, but majority of the modern youths tending towards insensitivity and irresponsibility. The juducial system should employ stringent ways of punishing the offenders.

but the question remains what actions taken against these killing evils. Can police answer this ? Because always it's a clear "NOTHING". because car owners will always be capable of bribing in such situations to safeguard their children. Or else it's a clear evident that these students , especially the driver killed this innocent man who was returning from his work to home... all the property of the students owners to be transferred to victim's family. Let's see if our legal system can achieve this. Unfortunately we all know the truth. very very unfortunateate.

These type of students should die in accidents. If not they will cause the same thing again. Disclose their names and pics to media. Innocent is killed. City will come to normal but what about the family. Careless driving, especially by youth, is causing the accidents nowadays.
