Bengaluru: Police to investigate Nalin remarks- Home Minister

Daijiworld Media Network- Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jan 3: Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar informed on Monday January 2 that Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police will investigate the remarks allegedly made by Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel of ‘setting fire to DK district if the killers of Karthik Raj were not found within ten days.’

Nalin had made the statement on Sunday in Konaje near Mangaluru. He was referring to the murder of Karthik Raj, son of former Mangaluru taluk panchayat president Umesh Ganiga, who died on October 23, 2016 after he was attacked by unknown assailants a day earlier.

Nalin’s remarks had attracted widespread criticism and protests. Congress had also filed a police complaint at Konaje police station regarding the issue.

Dr G Parameshwar

“Nalin should not have spoken like that as Member of Parliament. Even a police complaint stands registered against him. Does his statement amount to breaking of law? Does it amount to disruption of law and order? These are the questions raised now and those will be answered after the investigation is over.” Dr Parameshwar said.

“There was no need for Nalin to react like that for a murder case. He could have spoken to the police chief, myself or even chief minister if he wanted any report on the progress of the case. What does he mean when he says he is going to set the district on fire?” he questioned.

“Those who are in politics should know how to exercise patience. Communal harmony should always be maintained. No public representative should try to play with law and order.” Dr Parameshwar opined.

I would like to suggest to the People who have disagreed with my comment to know difference between words and actions. If his men acted upon what he said then he should be punished along with the people to committed the act. But all he has done until now is only speak.

Being an MP defiantly Nalin kumar shouldn’t have spoken like the way he did. What about you, as an home minster of a state, how can you speak what dress girls should wear. Don’t you think it is wrong on your part?

My friend there are lots of people from Udupi/ Manglore who work is in Banglore city police. G.A Bawa was ACP when I was in Banglore. Lokathanatha Kadri was very strict PSI/CI was there. These all people belongs to coastal area and speak Tulu language only. Even Encounter specialist Daya Nayak can speak kannada koknani Tulu apart from Hindi Marathi and English. For police language is not a big issue. Only political pressure is big issue to perform duty.
