Mangaluru: Spectacular fund-raiser concert by ex-Aloysians rocks city

Mangaluru, Jan 8: It was a spectacular evening as 'Concert 4 Aloysius '17', the rock music concert organized by the former students of St Aloysius College to aid the education of the underprivileged, created musical ripples in the city. The concert was held on Saturday, January 7 at the centenary grounds of the College.

It was a combination of veteran and young musicians, all alumni of St Aloysius College, along with Sandalwood music director Gurukiran and band Living Machine coming together on stage and giving a top-notch performance that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

A formal stage programme was held to honour the donors of the event.

Expressig his happiness, Fr Stany D'souza, provincial of Jesuit Karnataka province said that Aloysians have always been kind towards the needy. "I thank everyone who has contributed towards this concert, in turn contributing to the education of the underprivileged."

Addressing the gathering, principal of the college Fr Swebert D'Silva said, "It is an opportunity for all of us including the present and past students of this college to support a noble cause. This evening shows the excellence of education that is imparted in this college."

The concert began with students of the college rendering their singing and dance performances. The stage was set ablaze by team Live Machine led by vocalist Asif. The band which has made the college proud with its live performances at the national and international levels got the crowd dancing for almost an hour.

Gurukiran, an alumni of the college, recalling his memories as a youngster mesmerised everyone with popular Hindi and Kannada numbers, along with singer Chaitra and their musical troupe.

A big crowd mostly comprising youngsters enjoyed the concernt to the hilt.

    One of the biggest achievements I have seen Bering an Ex Aloysian,

    There has got a lot put into ,to make this LIVE performance of music to happen in real time,we watched shows in the past & thought we could never make it,But yet again Aloysians of the 1980's have come back to prove they can do this in 2017.I think the younger generation of Aloysians should take this as an example & come up with yet another Music group & perform.

    Nice to see Living Machine ,the first true Mangalorean rock band of the late 80s again,truely notalgic.

    Amazing to watch thru photographs and write-ups such fine live Concerts in Mangalore at St.Aloysius College conducted by the old students. Our congratulations are due to all those that master-minded the program. The stage setting and the lighting is simply too good to watch from a distance.
