Kundapur: Woman from Bengaluru drowns in temple pond at Koteshwar

Kundapur, Jan 12: A woman from Bengaluru drowned in a huge temple pond of Lord Kotilingeshwara temple at Koteshwar near here on Wednesday January 11. The victim has been identified as Tulasi (52), resident of Bankers Colony, Bengaluru.

Tulasi had arrived at the family home of her husband at Beejadi near Koteshwar from Bengaluru. She went down the steps of the temple pond to wash her feet and hands before entering the temple, when she accidentally slipped and fell into the pond.

Tulasi is survived by husband and two sons. Her body was retrieved later and handed over to her family. Town police circle inspector, Manjappa, police sub-inspector, Nassir Hussain, and others visited the spot.

The out that algae has grown on the steps around the temple pond and made the place slippery and dangerous. They said several people had slipped in the past and faced danger here. Therefore, they demanded for safety measures to be taken to save devotees and citizens from possible danger at the pond.
