Bagalkot, Jan 13: A minor girl, Janavva Shivappa Lamani (16) was burnt to death on Thursday January 12 for refusing to develop a physical relationship with a man. The victim belonged to Chikkur Tanda LT-2 village of Mudhol taluk.
The accused, Lokesh Vittal Lamani, stands arrested. It is said that Lokesh was pestering the girl to agree to have sex with him since long. As she repeatedly spurned his advances, he got angry. In the early hours of Thursday January 1, he entered her house, poured kerosene on the sleeping girl before torching her. He thereafter fled from there.
Although the girl was taken to hospital, she could not be saved. Lokesh was arrested later.
