Udupi: Driver from Belapu killed in accident near Vellore

Udupi, Mar 9: Riaz Hussain (46), driver of a Mahindra pick-up truck, who hails from Belapu village near Kaup in the district, was killed in an accident which occurred on Bengaluru-Chennai highway near Vellore in Tamil Nadu. The accident happened at around 1.30 pm on Wednesday Match 8.

Riaz had left Malpe with a load of fishes in the Mahindra pick-up van for selling the same at Chennai market two days back. The vehicle he was driving hit an Eicher truck that had got stranded near Ambur near Vellore after developing problems, from behind. Riaz suffered serious injuries in the said accident and breathed his last.

Another person from Navunda in Kundapur taluk, who had accompanied Riaz in the journey, was also injured in the accident. He stands admitted into a hospital at Vellore with serious injuries. A case stands registered in the local police station.

Riaz is survived by his wife. Family members have left for Vellore to bring back his body.
