Mangaluru, Mar 9: Suratkal police arrested a person who has been accused of abducting and raping a minor girl. The arrested accused has been identified as Ashwath (24), a resident of Aitoor, Kadaba in Puttur taluk. The arrest was made from Kadaba.
Ashwath, a driver by profession, has been accused of kidnapping a 17-year-old girl from near Kulai here. The girl, it is gathered, is from a family that is native to Badami. Ashwath has been charged with forcibly raping the girl after taking her to Kadaba against her wishes.
The police have booked Ashwath under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Investigation is on.
