Mangaluru: Murder attempt on two brothers at Ullal - two held

Mangaluru, Mar 11: Police personnel attached to Ullal station here have taken into custody two men, who have been accused of attacking two brothers at Ullal Mastikatte on March 9 with the intention to kill them.

Sameer, native of Ullal, who currently lives at Patla in Kallapu, and his brother, Siraj,  who were moving in a two-wheeler, were attacked with knives reportedly by Surma Imran who belongs to Illyas alias Target Illyas gang, and Hamza. The victims, who suffered serious injuries, had informed Ullal police, who have registered a case, that Altaf Katipalla Hamza had helped Surma in this attack.

The police are now on the lookout for the other persons involved with this attack. In the meantime, relatives of Sameer and others gathered in front of Ullal police station in large numbers on Friday March 10, accusing the police of extending royal hospitality to the arrested accused and  of making efforts to shield them. The relatives also alleged that the accused are being provided immunity from law because of political influence.
