Karkala: Accident involving private bus - bike rider dies

Karkala, Mar 13: The rider of a motor bike lost his life after his two-wheeler got involved in head-on collision with a private bus. The accident took place on the night of Sunday March 12 near Parappady, Nitte near here.

The victim of this accident was Praveen (32), a resident of Shantibettu, Sanoor. He was moving in his motor bike from Parappady towards Karkala when a private tourist bus that was bound for Bengaluru from the town via Padubidri hit his vehicle. Praveen who suffered serious injuries, died on the spot.

Praveen, it is learnt, used to render trade in coconuts. He also used to pluck coconuts from trees, and was the pillar of strength and support for his family. Reportedly, he was involved with a minor accident sometime back, and had recovered recently.

As per information gathered, both the bus and the bike were moving at high speed when they collided head-on with each other. The locals felt that the rider of the motor bike would have been blinded by the light of the vehicle opposite  him, and absence of road divider would have contributed to the gravity of this accident.

    Helmet rule is not followed strictly. This road has more than 25 speed breaker between padubidri and Karkala, what more safety can be provided. Personal awareness of safety is lacking.
