Puttur: Man from taluk dies, another injured in accident near Hassan

Puttur, Mar 13: After a vehicle carrying pilgrims returning after visiting Tirupathi met with an accident near Hassan, a person from Koodamara in Chikkamudnur village here died, while the vehicle driver sustained serious injuries. The accident happened in the wee hours of Sunday March 12.

The victim has been identified as Ganasiri Thimmappa Poojary (67) from Koodamara. Driver of the Toyota Qualis vehicle in which the family was travelling, Umesh Poojary, a resident of Ragindakumeru village here, survived with serious injuries. Others in the vehicle, Jayaram Poojary from Marakkur, Krishnappa Poojary from Nekkare, Nemu Poojary from Alakemajalu, Poovappa Poojary from Manjeshwar, Damodar Poojary from Manjeshwar and Sheenappa Poojary from Mani, who suffered injuries, have been admitted into a private hospital here for treatment.

The vehicle had crashed into a stationary tanker parked by the roadside when moving towards Sakleshpur from Hassan.
