Hassan, May 6: A minor girl from Arasikere, who had been sold by a racket of human traffickers twice in Rajasthan, has been rescued by the district police. The police are now hunting for three accused including two women who had sold the girl.

The accused who are hiding now, have been identified as Shashirekha, Suneeta, and Suneeta's husband, Vasant. All three are absconding. The police have booked cases against this trio under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The girl was sold twice by the gang. The police have arrested the mother of the person who bought the girl during her second sale. The police are holding further investigation in the case.

The affected girl happens to be a resident of Arasikere. She stayed with her mother. Shashirekha, who is her neighbour, promised to bag a job for the girl and took her away with her on September 29 last year. She kept the girl in a hotel at Chennai and showed her to many youngsters with the objective of finding a prospective buyer for her. Then the girl was taken to Rajasthan where the girl was sold to a man for three lac rupees, and her marriage was also conducted with him.

Thereafter, the minor was sold to a driver for three lac rupees and here too her marriage was conducted for the second time. The girl is four months pregnant now. The mother of the girl filed a complaint with the police with inordinate delay. Two teams had been formed to find the girl out. The police found the whereabouts of the girl on the basis of a call made by her to her mother from Rajasthan sometime back, and succeeded in rescuing her.
