Kasargod, May 6: It is said that police have collected information on all the culprits who hacked Ramakrishna (46), son of the late Subba Moolya and the late Bhagirathi, who was running G K General Stores at Mandekapu in broad daylight. One of them was arrested on Friday May 5.

Ramakrishna was killed by a gang wielding swords on Thursday afternoon near Koragajja Katte in Mandekapu where his shop is located. The incident had happened at around 2 pm, and although he was rushed to a hospital at Mangaluru immediately, Ramakrishna did not survive the journey. While two assailants committed the murder, three more were seated inside the black car that was parked near the shop, it is learnt. The car sped thereafter towards Paivalike via Permude.

The police raided several spots in the district in search of the killers. One of the accused escaped on seeing the police team arriving, seconds before his house was raided, it is gathered. The car used by the killers was an Alto car belonging to a person from Cherkala. One of the accused had borrowed the car for half an hour, the owner of the car confessed to the police.

After postmortem at Periyaram Medical College Hospital, the body of Ramakrishna was brought back to his home on Friday evening. Condemning this murder, businessmen took part in the Hartal till Friday afternoon as per the call given by Merchants Association, Permude unit.
