Belagavi, May 10: Former chief minister of Karnataka and state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, claimed that he is in possession of documents to prove benami deals by chief minister Siddaramaiah's son, Dr Yathindra.

Responding to Siddaramaiah's claim that a hue and cry about alleged illegal activities of his son was raised and complaint of benami property was filed with the income tax department to ensure that he does not progress in public life, Yeddyurappa accused Dr Yathindra of misusing his closeness to corridors of power.

"Yathindra claims that he has nothing to do with Bowring Hospital. But he himself has been signing cheques pertaining to construction of diagnostic centre on behalf of the hospital. He also has planned to open a diagnostic centre illegally by the side of Bowring Hospital. I have documents to prove his illegal deals. Unless the chief minister orders investigation immediately, I will release the documents at an opportune time," he warned.

He said that his party will bring out documents including cheques signed by Dr Yathindra to prove the allegation.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, meanwhile, defended his son, assertinf that political vengeance was behind the complaint filed against Dr Yathindra. He said the complaint was based on false allegations and was far from the truth. I don't even know who the complainant is.

According to the complaint filed under the Benami Property Transaction Act, money was allegedly routed to offshore accounts and then re-routed to India for development of diagnostic centres by Dr Yathindra and his associates. "It is the first time my son has gone on a foreign tour. Is it possible to make investments during the very first visit?" the CM questioned.
