Mangaluru: Police stop illegal sand transportation, seize nine trucks

Mangaluru, May 11: Nine huge trucks loaded which sand, which had been parked in a secluded spot with the purpose of supplying sand to Kerala illegally were taken into custody by Ullal police from Tachchane in Talapady on Wednesday May 10.

The sand which had been brought from various places like Pavoor and Kallapu was stocked at Tachchane. It was then loaded on to huge ten and 12-wheeled trucks. This sand was proposed to be transported into Kerala illegally. Police personnel of Ullal station, who got information about the trucks having been put together in a secret spot, raided the spot and took all the vehicles along with loads of sand into possession.

However, drivers and cleaners of all the nine trucks fled from the spot during the raid. A case of illegal sand transportation was registered against owners of the trucks at Ullal police station.
