Mangaluru, May 11: Two groups of district youth Congress engaged in fighting at district Congress office on Thursday, May 11 and one leader was assaulted.

Lukman Bantwal, the candidate for the post of president in the upcoming youth Congress election was assaulted by a Keerthi, who allegedly belongs to the group of current president Mithun Rai.

After the assault on Lukman, members started abusing each other in front of Congress leaders, especially in the presence of DRO.

After the assault, Lukman alleged that due to fear of defeat in upcoming elections some assaulted him.”We started the membership campaign 6 months back and succeeded in bringing more than 15,000 members to youth Congress. The number of new members will decide the victory and defeat of the candidates. The members who joined recently are backing us. Hence one group within the party with criminal background are not happy. So they are trying to threaten us. But we have the confidence that we will win."

"The incident happened in the party office. So we are not going complain to police. But we will inform about the incidence to our state leadership.” He added.
