Udupi, May 12: The wait will soon be over. ‘Darpan 2017’ is arriving on Sunday, May 14. It is an enthralling dance show open to all.

The time has come for viewers to have a feast to their eyes, have music fill their ears and have energy fill their senses. The show, packed with music, dance, fun and passion, will be commencing from 6 30 pm at MJC Ground, Manipal.

The show is being organized by the ‘Prashanth N Group Dance Academy’, Kadiyali, popularly known as ‘PnG’. The group came into being twenty years ago, while they have been presenting Darpan since 2010.

They are a bunch of young and exuberant dancers, who train children and young dance enthusiasts to do what they do best, dance and entertain. They dance not just to impress, but also express themselves and their emotions.

Pettkammi Song Release

They will also have song release of the much awaited Tulu film ‘Pettkammi’. Pettkammi is a youthful Tulu film produced by Ashok Shetty and Sunil Shetty and directed by Keerthi, under the banner of Malgudi Talkies. A song from the film titled ‘Popunda..Popunda…’ will be released on the occasion of Darpan 2017.

This song will be in the voice of music director Richard. It will then be used to hunt for new male singing talent, through the Voice of Pettkammi programme, where those auditioning will sing this song. Details will be provided on the occasion. This will be yet another attraction for film and music lovers.

The Prashanth and Group Dance Academy (PnG) is recognized as a vibrant dance crew and one of the leading troupes in Karnataka. They have competed a lot of times, put up shows across South India, trained a lot of children and youngsters, helping them bring out and polish their skills.

The group is spearheaded by a professional team of sixteen members. They have also won over 150 awards, proving that they have what it takes. They embrace dance as their passionate driving force.

Chief guests for the occasion will be Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports Karnataka, Raghupati Bhat, Udupi former MLA, Yashpal Suvarna, President of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada District Fish Market Federation, Renu Jayaram, CEO of Jaydev Motors, Purushottam Shetty, Ujwal Developers, Indrali Jayakar Shetty, Badagubettu Credit Cooperative society Ltd Udupi, Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, President, Udupi Municipality Council, Bhuvanendra Kediyoor, Manager Director, Kediyoor Hotels Private Ltd; among others. Inauguration will be done through lighting of lamp by children.

Sahil Zaheer, who keeps his audience attentive with his attractive delivery, will be the anchor for the show. Over 150 students will be performing on this day. More than 10,000 people are expected to gather.

For the dance lovers, they are introducing a new dance form this year. That’s ‘freestyle folk’.
