Udupi, May 12: Two assailants stabbed an Auto Rikshaw driver in Kanchinadka, Padubidri for trivial reasons and fled.

The victim is Kanchinadka resident Yousuf(35). Suspects of the assault, Kanchinadka residents Ashraf(22) and Palimaru resident Ashwan (21) are absconding after the assault.

Yousuf was working as an auto driver at Padubidri. When he was returning home in the evening, the suspects who were standing near the house of grama panchayat member Mumtaz, waylaid the auto and threatening Yousuf that they were going to kill him and fled after stabbing him.

Local people who came rushing after hearing the screams admitted Yousuf to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The suspects are the relatives of Yousuf. Criminal cases for holding deadly weapons were registered earlier against them. It is alleged that the suspects indulged in the incident because Yousuf had advised the suspects against holding the weapons.  A police case has been registered in Padubidri police station.
