Mangaluru, May 15: It was yet another proud moment for Eric Correa and Souharda foundation when state minister for housing M.Krishnappa handed over the keys of the 32 houses to people who are in need of shelter.

This is third such project from Sauharda Foundation, who did the noble act again by mobilizing resources at Murkathpalke in Guddeyangadi of Beluvai Grama panchayat on Sunday, May 14.

Souharda Nagar III new houses were blessed by Fr Eugene D Silva, rector of Redemptorists priests in Alangar, Moodbidri along with Fr J.B Saldanha and Fr Rakesh Mathais, the parish priest of Saverapura church.

MP of Dakshina Kannada Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Mangaluru South J.R Lobo, former minister and MLA Moodbidri Abhaya Chandra Jain, Fr J.B Saldanha, managing trustee of Sauharda Foundation Eric Correa, and trustees Fr J.B Saldanha, Luvi J. Pinto and Titus Noronha were present in dias.

Sauharda Nagar I is situated in Muragoli, Alangar and Sauharda Nagar II is situated in Mavinakatte, Paladka.

Souhardha Nagar III was built under Souhardha Foundation in 7.5 acres of land wherein 32 houses of 552 sq feet each. Each house will comprise a bedroom-hall-kitchen costing about Rs. 5.5 lacs, excluding the cost of land.

After handing over the keys to beneficiaries M Krishnappa praised the kind heart of Eric Correa and Souharda Foundation. In his speech he said “This is happening rarely. A man and his close friends think about society, homeless and come forward to help them. We cannot see this type noble gesture everywhere. The world is becoming selfish and everyone tries to earn more money and for that they are working day and night. Nobody is interested in poor and helpless people’s problems. But the Souharda foundation in the leadership of Eric thinks differently. They are building houses for poor and distributing them."

"I have heard that the selection is done by the Foundation without considering religion and caste of needy people. This is a great deed and difficult to do for everyone. It is nice to know that many people have donated for this project. It shows there are some people with humanity and full of love. They are not only the donors but they also good motivators. The thought of Sauharda Foundation touched me a lot. The helping mentality is need of time. I congratulate the donors and all beneficiaries and wishing all success for Souharda Foundations in its future projects.” minister added.

In his speech JR Lobo said, “A history is created here. In today’s competitive world nobody is interested in charity or service to others. But under the leadership of Eric Correa, Souharda Foundation did a great charity and they succeeded to convey a strong message to society. These days it is very difficult to construct a single house but this Foundation has constructed 128 houses including these 32,”

“I salute Eric Correa and all the trustees of Souharda Nagara. There is no need of much explanation on their service. The houses and the gathering itself say everything. The two hands engaged in charity are better than hundred lips busy with prayers. Eric and his listened to the voices of helpless, poor and neglected by society. Please pray for Souharda team.”

In his thanks giving speech Eric Correa mentioned every donor who supported him from his Souharda Nagar 1 project. He congratulated all beneficiaries and wished them pleasant living.

Luvi J Pinto welcomed the guests and gathering and briefed the history of Souharda Foundation Trustee.

Titus Noronha compered the programme.

About Eric Correa and Souharda Foundation

Eric Correa. Who has come up in a hard way starting his career as an office boy slowly graduating to have his own business, has set an inspiring example for others to emulate. A little inspiration he received by taking a cue from others and incidents of his own life prompted him to do something to help those in need of homes. While people usually are able to feed and clothe themselves, having a home of their own is a dream for many and Eric decided to build houses for these people and help realize their dreams. The result was Souharda Nagar.

Eric Correa had started his work of gifting houses to the deserving poor on a silent note, his gesture came in for appreciation from all quarters. His work has not only won the appreciation of the beneficiaries but has also inspired philanthropists and benefactors who extended their heartfelt support both moral and financial for 2nd and 3 phase of project.

After the first project of Sauharda Nagar -1, Souhardha Foundation, at trust was started and managed by Eric Correa with his friends Louis J Pinto, Titus A Noronha, John L D’Souza and Fr J B Saldanha as trustees.
